Convert Word Document to PDF in LW
complete
LexWorkplace Product Team
An update to all users that experienced issues converting Word docs to PDF:
The root issue was that some fonts in the source document (Word) weren't available in our PDF conversion engine, and the destination document (PDF) would be in a different (fallback) font.
This week we've released an update to LexWorkplace adding many fonts, including the one used by users in this thread.
Please feel free to comment here, or reach out to our support team if you have any questions. Thank you all for the feedback! Keep it coming!

LexWorkplace Product Team: I use the normal 12 point Times New Roman font and have noticed when converting the formatting shifts the entire letter. I too have now gone back to saving as a pdf then dragging and dropping back into LWP.

LexWorkplace Product Team I am having the same issue as Christina above. When I use the LexWorkplace feature to convert my word documents to a PDF it shifts the formatting which often means I have to resort to saving the document as a PDF to my desktop and dragging it to LexWorkplace which is inconvenient.

I agree with the comments below. The long-awaited convert to PDF within LexWorkplace feature does not maintain formatting. My main uses for convert to PDF are for preparing documents for filing. Many courts have restrictions on what font you can use so the appearance of the converted document is not going to work for filing Court documents as it completely changes the font.

Love that this feature was developed! This was one of the main complaints from our users! Although saving the Word document to a PDF format and then dragging and dropping into Lex was not difficult! Geesh! Thanks Development Team!!!!

LexWorkplace Product Team: Glad this feature is complete. However, when converting to .PDF it is reformating the document. For example it is repaginating, changing margins, adding headers, etc. The .PDF does not look exactly like the original document (i.e., Word document). Also, you can only convert one document at a time, and large documents take a long time. I have gone back to converting via Adobe and dragging the document to the LexWorkplace folder. Any way to improve this?
LexWorkplace Product Team
Nancy McHenery: Thank you for the feedback. Have you tried with multiple/different documents? Would you be willing to share one of the documents (Word) that is reformatted? If so I'll provide a secure email to share with (via 'Send' in LexWorkplace).

LexWorkplace Product Team: Has there been any further movement on this feedback? I, too, am experiencing reformatting issues when using the 'convert to PDF' feature. The finished PDF simply does not look great and definitely doesn't match the original Word document.
LexWorkplace Product Team
Erik B.: We're gathering data right now. Would you be willing to share one of the documents (Word) that is reformatted? If so I'll provide a secure email to share with (via 'Send' in LexWorkplace).

LexWorkplace Product Team: I’d be happy to.
LexWorkplace Product Team
Erik B.: Excellent, thank you. Would you please send the original Word doc (from LexWorkplace). You can select then click Actions > Send to securely send.
Then, please send to: info@UptimeLegal.com
We'll review ASAP - thank you.

Hi, Is there an update on this feature? We are very eager to have this capability and it seems the target was 2022. Thanks!
LexWorkplace Product Team
Jennifer C.: Hi Jennifer. YES! This feature is in development right now actually. And you're right, we'd originally targeted a 2022-Q4 release, but it's been delayed and we're now shooting for 2023-Q1, so hopefully very soon.
PS--I've seen the feature in it's pre-release status, very slick, I think you'll like it.

LexWorkplace Product Team: Just checking in on the status of this feature. It is much needed. Thank you.
LexWorkplace Product Team
Nancy McHenery: Hi Nancy. This is in development now! I think, within about 80% certainty, that we'll release this feature yet in Q2.

LexWorkplace Product Team: Any update on the status of this issue? I know it's "in progess", but it has been a while and we really would like this feature completed.
LexWorkplace Product Team
Nancy McHenery: Yes, we temporarily shifted development priorities around, but this feature (Convert Word to PDF) is back in development (and nearing completion). I expect that we will release this feature yet in Q3!

LexWorkplace Product Team: Is there a more concrete timeline that you could provide?
LexWorkplace Product Team
Jack R.: Hi Jack, great question. It's difficult to provide timeframes for most development projects, as priorities can shift based on customer demand. That said, this particular feature is on the shorter side, our GOAL is to complete this in Q4 of this year.

This should be one of the top five development features! What's the expected rollout on this feature? Soon I hope!
LexWorkplace Product Team
Maria Tanzillo: This feature request is quickly climbing in votes! We do plan to develop this, just a matter of when and priority. :)
